“Dodge has upped the performance ante in the muscle car segment with the introduction the 707 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat,” said Arthur Henry, senior manager of Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence. “The previous king in the pony car arms race was the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 with 662 HP, which edged the 598 HP Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. The muscle car segment is exploiting the new advancements in engine displacement and superchargers to achieve power gains that would have been unimaginable a decade ago. But with great power comes a great price tag, as the Hellcat, Shelby and ZL1 can be north of $60,000 in price.”
