Great Deals Still Available in 2012

Consumers in-market for a new car today are faced with the most competitive selection available in recent memory. Competition among manufacturers in the compact car, mid-size car and compact crossover segments has been ramping up during the past several years, as vastly improved product from GM, Ford and Hyundai have given traditional segment leaders, Toyota and Honda, a run for their money. Vehicles in these segments remain in high demand, especially as fuel prices begin to creep up and economic recovery remains moderate at best. Compact crossovers are in especially high demand due to their versatility and excellent fuel economy compared to the fuel-thirsty SUVs that dominated the market just a few years ago. They have increased their market share from a scant 6.9 percent of overall sales in 2007 to a robust 11 percent of all sales in 2011. 

Within these segments, we have identified the top five deals available today based on Kelley Blue Book’s Fair Purchase Price (the price consumers typically pay a dealer for a new car), in combination with any applicable consumer cash rebates. In some cases, consumers may be able to purchase the vehicle of their dreams for nearly $3,000 below Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and finance as low as zero percent for 60 months. For those consumers not interested in purchasing their vehicle, there are many competitive leases available for close to $200 per month. Regardless of your budget, there will likely be at least one vehicle available that meets your family’s needs.
